How do I know I need a statistician?  Can’t my own staff just use the software?

We are experts in gaining insight from data in the presence of uncertainty.  There is a lot of black-box software out there that might create pretty charts and reports but not help with finding patterns and outliers and drawing conclusions.   We will work with you to answer an immediate question and to empower your team to answer new questions.  

Do you know SAS, R, SPSS, Statistica, EXCEL Macros, Matlab, etc.?

While the principal has a certain skill set, we are most concerned about concepts.  So we will be able to work with your current system and build a team.   Various commercial and open-source packages have strengths and weaknesses.  In general we discourage doing serious modeling in spreadsheets.

We are developing a new product and want to do a demonstration study or project.  Can you help us?

Yes we can help design a proof of concept study as well as validate previous work.  We can bring in subject matter expertise as needed.  

Are you a Contract Research Organization (CRO)?

A typical Contract Research Organization (CRO) specializes in the laboratory, clinical, data management, programming and statistical requirements for sponsors.  These studies may be for submissions to review agencies. We can work with your CRO or build a ‘virtual CRO’ for small projects.

Can you predict the future from our data?

Statistical prediction is not clairvoyance.  As all financial companies are required to warn, ‘past performance is not a guarantee of future returns.’    That said, past behavior can explain what influenced results.   Predictive modeling tools provide a systematic way to weight these influences on new observations.  This leads to better decisions.
